Henkel Bolstering R&D 4.0 Platform With AI- and Automation-Supported Tech

Henkel is tapping into technology platforms that can support AI and automation to bolster the research and development efforts within its consumer business.
Through a new investment, Henkel will have access to end-to-end business integration with data sharing and reporting functions, helping to drive innovations in product development through consumer insights.
The company is working with LabVantage Solutions to integrate LabVantage’s LIMS and SAP’s product lifecycle management tools into its core R&D 4.0 platform. The integration into Henkel’s business processes will help streamline operations and support a cloud migration for global R&D data sharing along with technologies such as generative AI.

Michael Nilles, chief digital and information officer of Henkel, said the partnership will help the company bridge innovation and operational processes, digitizing R&D with a data- and AI-driven platform.
The company sought a partnership with a deep understanding of data management and thought leadership in AI as part of ongoing progress to achieve a fully integrated value chain. Enterprise-wide optimization efforts include a supply chain overhaul with more than 800 projects to realize $271 million in net savings by 2026.
