First Resonance unveils ION Intelligence, new factory OS, and marketplace

First Resonance, a provider of digital manufacturing solutions, has launched its new “agentic manufacturing solution” – ION Intelligence, an updated ION Factory Operating System, and the ION Marketplace.

These advancements aim to help manufacturers build smarter factories, accelerate US reshoring, and boost productivity in production, supply chain, and quality workflows.

ION Intelligence introduces agentic manufacturing capabilities, allowing the deployment of lightweight, semi-autonomous AI agents for faster, more proactive decisions.

The new ION Factory OS features an improved user experience, while the ION Marketplace connects app and solution providers to offer a complete factory stack.

Since its 2021 introduction, the ION Factory OS has been adopted by over 60 companies, including Radiant, Saronic, and K2 Space.

First Resonance developed the ION Factory OS to address manufacturing bottlenecks experienced at companies like SpaceX and Boeing, providing a cloud-native orchestration layer that enables rapid retooling and workflow adjustments. This can lead to a 10x acceleration in time-to-industrialize.

Radiant, a company pioneering portable nuclear microreactors, has been leveraging ION Factory OS since 2023 for quality assurance, supplier data, and traceability.

Matt Wilson, senior director of operations at Radiant, says: “ION is built into many of Radiant’s quality assurance procedures and effectively allows us to manage supplier data, purchase order data, and traceability across our inventory and assembly locations.

“Radiant’s quality procedures and ION workflows have been reviewed by third-party nuclear quality assurance auditors who have found the software as an effective means to control our data and work procedures.

“Over the last several years the ION team has supported Radiant’s requests to build out new features and workflows to support the increased scale of our operations.”

Karan Talati, CEO of First Resonance, says: “ION is giving manufacturers the speed advantage they need to reshore operations – by automating decisions, shortening production cycles, and bringing software-level agility to hardware companies.

“While AI is taking multiple industries by storm, we have been hard at work at applying it for the critical nature of manufacturing. While it is powerful, the key is to make sure that manufacturers can understand, approve, and scale AI-driven decision-making.

“We are excited to share what the balance of automation and augmentation should be in mission-critical applications like aerospace and energy.”

The new ION Intelligence offers AI-powered agents for autonomous decision-making and process management, optimizing workflows and resolving issues proactively.

The updated ION Experience provides a modern interface, real-time updates, detailed audit logs, and a performance-optimized architecture, enabling factory employees to maximize advanced features with less effort.

An all-new ION API also allows for automation of repetitive tasks and seamless system integration.

The ION Marketplace addresses the challenge of disparate manufacturing systems by surfacing verified partners like Arena, Duro, Silkline, and Razorleaf. This provides a trusted platform for manufacturers to extend their digital stack, scale operations, and implement specialized workflows.
